You MUST tackle SMTP before you can send mail. The errors you cite
imply that you haven`t set up your SMTP (sending) server yet. It won`t
work until you do so.
Your POP3 settings may or may not work, depending on whether their
server insists on an encrypted or non-encrypted connection. It will
probably want encrypted, which means it will probably want you to use
port 995.
