 Boeing has resumed test flights with the 777-9 after five months.
Last summer, flights had to be halted after a broken support rod was
discovered on one of the GE9X engines. But after replacing those parts, a
test aircraft took to the skies again on Thursday from Boeing Field
Airport near Seattle.
 
 As is known, the introduction of the 777-9 has been extremely
delayed. The first aircraft should actually have entered service in 2020. But
the forecast is now 2026. In order to achieve that, it is of great
importance that the test aircraft can be flown again and the certification
flights can be resumed.
 
 The 777-9 is the first and largest member of the new 777X family
and is the successor to the very popular 777-300ER. Compared to the
latter aircraft, the aircraft is three meters longer and has even larger
wings and new engines to reduce kerosene consumption. Airlines already have
more than 400 orders for the 777-9.
