 Four Alaska Airlines flight attendants are suing aircraft manufacturer
Boeing. The flight attendants were aboard the Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft
that lost a door panel shortly after takeoff last January. In separate
lawsuits, they are seeking compensation for past and future economic damages,
citing physical and mental injuries, emotional distress, and other financial
costs.
 
 "Each of the four flight attendants acted courageously, followed
their training, and prioritized the safety of their passengers while
fearing for their lives," said the attorney representing each plaintiff.
"They deserve full compensation for this life-altering, traumatic
experience."
 
 The lawsuits, filed this week in King County Court in Seattle,
accuse Boeing of negligence and carelessness in the production, sale, and
repair of 737 MAX aircraft and their parts.
 
 Last month, the National Transportation Safety Board found that
Boeing failed to provide adequate training, guidance, and oversight to
prevent the incident. In January 2024, the Alaska Airlines Boeing lost its
door panel shortly after departure from the US state of Oregon and had
to make an emergency landing. There were 171 passengers and six crew
members on board. No one was injured.
 
 The incident sparked a crisis at Boeing. An investigation by the
FAA revealed that several bolts in the panel were loose, and loose
parts were also found on other MAX aircraft. A criminal investigation also
followed, and several key executives resigned from the company.
