  1. Registry changing is always my last choice. For ports above
5000, I`d rather port-forward the bink port to a number below 5000.

  2. The second one was exciting since it involved cmd. I`ll keep
you posted (if you like).

  That`s my first suspicion; however hard that is to believe, after
a new installation, the problem remained.
