Essentially creating a (remote) UI to serve in place
of the "limited" UI on the instrument.  You rely on the
user to have something ELSE that can provide the interface
by leveraging other popular protocols.

As the device must then be routed, is there a risk of some
"outside agent" accessing the device?

Can the user alter the "default" name to something friendlier?
Possibly an alias?

Presumably, the MAC (or serial number as that is likely friendlier)
is easily accessible on the device (and, the user is in proximity
to the device)?
