The July 2023 issue of `The WROCC` -- the newsletter of the Wakefield RISC
OS Computer Club -- is on its way out to members across the UK and beyond
this week.

In this issue we investigate how RISC OS establishes the correct date and
time on start-up, and the ways that this can go wrong. Our short series on
using LanMan98 concludes with a look at setting up Samba on Linux, and we
have a summary of Mark Stephens` presentation about using RISC OS alongside
MacOS at our June meeting. There`s a look at using OmniDisc to configure the
disc drives on the iconbar and a round-up of software releases including
CherryBomb. Finally, we report on the results of the Charity Stall at the
Wakefield Show in 2023, and look forward to a date in 2024.

Able to trace its roots directly back to the first Wakefield Club newsletter
in April 1983, these days `The WROCC` is produced in an A5 booklet layout
and copies are delivered free to WROCC members in PDF format. Membership of
the Club costs 7.50ukp per year... and despite our name, there are no
geographical restrictions.

For those who haven`t been following The WROCC each month, 2023`s issues
have so far included:

* In-depth coverage of the 2023 Wakefield Acorn & RISC OS Computer Show,
  with a report and photographs, a run-down of the prize draw winners,
  the results of the Charity Stall, and the important subject of the
  WROCC 40th Anniversary cake.

* A look at the work being done to get RISC OS running on the
  Compute Module 4.

* A detailed examination at the Compute Module 4 hardware and the `FAST`
  system from RISCOSbits.

* Cooling a system based around a Computer Module 4.

* How to get in control of referenced images in Ovation Pro.

* A small hardware module spotted by a member, which allows USB mice
  to replace the old Acorn quadrature hardware on the RiscPC and earlier.

* Rob Sprowson`s visit to Wakefield, where he talked about hardware
  speech synthesis on a BBC Micro and software speech synthesis on
  RISC OS, along with TextEase and PIC microprocessors.

* A walkthrough of creating tessellating shapes using BBC BASIC`s PLOT
  command.

* A user`s view of the Iris browser.

* Full instructions for setting up LanMan98 and Windows 10.

* How Chris Hall wrote the RingBind application, with manipulation and
  display of drawfiles.

* The work involved in creating and maintaining the newsletter`s article
  indexes.

* Monthly round-ups of what`s new in the world of RISC OS software.


The Wakefield Back Catalogue Issue 12
-------------------------------------

Relaunched following the completion of Volume 39 of `The WROCC` in April
2022, the twelfth edition of The Wakefield Back Catalogue contains PDF
copies of the Club`s monthly newsletters going from `The WROCC` and `Awake`
right back to the very first "hints & tips" sheet handed out at the April
1983 meeting.

The new compilation contains around 430 issues and is available as a
download in these more `virtual` times. It costs 7.50ukp for non-members,
whilst members can buy it for the discounted price of 5.00ukp. See
