The Fermi paradox.

 The universe is big. Ver very big. It is full of stars and
planets. Even if a very tiny fraction of these planets harbour intelligent
life, we can not be the only intelligent life in the universe. And some
of those aliens must heve been around much longer than we. Even at
sublight speeds they must have been able to colonize the galaxy in a
million years.

So where are they?

Answer: Intelligent societies are unstable.
