Hi, Anton! Recently you wrote in a message to Alexander Koryagin:
AK> It was probably Monday, when I sent it, a hard day
AK> in Russia. ;) It is a hard day on the other side of
AK> the pond, too? Or it is a Russian phenomen only? ;-)
AS> Monday`s hard nature permeates the Western culture, e.g.

AS> /Stormy Monday/, by T-Bone Walker
AS> I also remember /Monday, Monday/ by The Mamas and The
AS> Papas, but is not sad enough.
North Americans often make jokes about Mondays which I would
describe as "gallows humour"... I`ve noticed it in many cartoons.
We also say "TGIF", meaning "thank God it`s Friday". As a student
I was quite amused when someone wrote "Dieu merci, c`est vendredi" on
a chalkboard in the French teacher`s absence. I must add that this is
a literal translation, however, and I don`t know what Francophones
would say.
I`m certainly grateful to the police, paramedics, fire fighters,
etc. who show up whenever we need them at whatever hour on whatever
day. Both Dallas & I have done shift work, but I realize people like
us are in the minority. :-)
