 In a way, but cheques as a mode of payment were discontinued here
like ... ehrrrr ... 2002. I looked it up but I haven`t used any for
at least 35 years.
 
 The system was too expensive and I don`t understand how the US
maintains something as expensive that long.
 
My kids (25 through 42) have never used them, don`t even know what they are.
 
Cheques as a mode of payment ... I haven`t used then since the late 80-ies.
 
 So when the expression is used "The cheque is in the mail" it
sounds very much like fornicating in Central Europe (The Czech is in the
male).
