The last time I dealt with cheques was 2009 writing post-dated ones for a
landlord not technically inclined enough to accept email transfer or direct
deposit. In the spirit of giving everyone a chance, she was trusted not to
attempt to deposit them early.

Six months later she did, and that was "the end" of that nonsense.
