 If by "always" you mean during my lifetime then yes. Checking
supported standards in gcc documentation I note that c89 is still supported
in gcc-16 so I think we`re covered if that support is ever needed.
I`ve had to use c99 recently but I forget what source now that you
brought it to mind.
