I see your point, and with that said, I`m sure there are plenty
of different options to test against in Z1. However, binkd is a
"golden" standard because it works wonderfully. So if you`re testing against
that, and it works, your software is probably doing something right. ;)

There has been an "underground" scene since the 90s, if not
earlier. Nothing has changed in that regard except far fewer people, just
like Fidonet. These days, it seems like more of a `niche` thing, and
the fact that some of the networks have been around since those days.
Most `othernets` don`t carry upwards of 200 echos, either, and don`t like
the fact that 150 of 200 of said echos are completely dead. 10-20 or
so active areas works just fine, if not better. The broader the
conversation you can have in one echo, rather than being moderated that you`re
"off-topic", the more people are willing to participate.. or so I`ve noticed
anyway.
