 Strategic reserves of critical metals, as well as existing strategic
energy reserves, are being reviewed.

 These critical metals and minerals involve more than just rare
metals. Copper and aluminum, for example, are so important that strategic
reserves will be maintained.

 This is an expensive undertaking, because all that material needs to
be stored somewhere. It must be monitored, it must remain accessible,
and it must be properly managed.

 Trump believes that companies should just finance this for the time
being. The question is how those companies will recoup this investment. The
minerals and metals will therefore likely become more expensive than the
market price. These "details" haven`t been worked out, and I think it`s
crucial to have them clear upfront. Why should companies bear these costs
if they have no commercial benefit? If an American company has to bear
these costs for just a short period, American companies will become less
competitive in the global market.

 If the government wants a strategic reserve, why wouldn`t it take
care of it itself?
