It`s the old "runaway trolly" problem:
Do you save yourself, but cause 10 people to die?
Or do you save those people, but die in the process?

If you view certain people as "less than human", the "runaway trolly" problem
becomes simpler.

Do you run through a crowd of "protesters" with green hair, and save your
wife`s life?
Or do you stop for them, but potentially let your wife die?
