That`s spiritually appropriate. Improvised and repurposed objects
are much enjoyed. Lego isn`t an obvious starting point, but it`s
in the right frame of mind 8-). 

Since posting the original question the use of disposable plastic
pastry or takeout food containers crossed my mind. I can always
cut holes for cables and ventilation. Some of them are quite durable.
