That really sounds like a power or USB controller issue rather than
the SSD itself. I`ve seen some odd Pi 4 storage problems disappear
after switching to a different USB-SATA adapter or using a powered USB
setup. It might also be worth checking if the SSD firmware is up to
date, since some drives seem more sensitive than others on the Pi.
