Latest pi os. if I have lightdm set for any delay then the user -- 
mostly -- is not logged in. A session with chatgpt diagnosed and 
provided a workaround:

[Seat:*]
greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
autologin-user=display
autologin-user-timeout=30


Issues are with:
dpkg -l lightdm pi-greeter
....

ii  lightdm        1.26.0-8+rpt5 arm64        simple display manager
ii  pi-greeter     0.25          arm64        GTK greeter for Raspberry Pi



Anyone else fallen foul of this?
