I see a few elementary school pupils walking to school in the morning.
Funny thing is they`re always accompanied by parents.  Any of my
contemporaries would have died of shame if it seemed their mommy needed
to walk them to school.  Even children waiting to get on buses, often
less than a block from their homes, have parents waiting by the bus stop
in automobiles.  I`m not sure these children will do anything by
themselves until they leave for college, if then.
