 Not saying you would but piss poor statistical manipulation by some
New York Study claiming that helmets save lives is simply not true
regardless of their claims. Helmets reduce minor injuries. This does of course
SUGGEST that a helmet might very occasionally save a life but studies like
you noted were designed to mandate helmets as being necessary for the
safety of riders.
