I agree, although for me it`s handlebar bags. Every bike has a patch 
kit, a pump and sufficient tools for most problems. Every bike is ready 
to go.

One colleague of mine lived much closer to the university than I do, but 
instead of bicycling in, complained endless about the lack of parking. 
When I asked why he didn`t just ride, he said "By the time I find my 
shoes, my helmet, my bungee cords to hold my briefcase [etc.] I can 
drive in." Organization makes life so much easier.
