 The media doesn`t dumb down society. The media just serves their
customers, and a lot of those customer like their news dumbed down so they
don`t have to work hard to make sense of it. Fox News caters to an
audience which prefers lies to truth.

 The US Food and Drug Adminstration stops greedy capitalist from
making money out of selling products that actually damage the people who
buy them.

An intellectual equivalent would shut down Fox News immediately.

 If you want want a better product from the media you can buy it
- I subscribe to the New Yorker and the New Scientist.

The media isn`t any kind of monolith.
