 l and n seem to be spontaneously retroflexing in present day spoken
Tamil. I am observing it over the past 2-3 years. There is massive corpus
evidence on youtube etc. Even the upper caste Brahmins don`t seem immune.

 Individual speakers seem powerless against the change happening at
the speech community level.

 Strong supporting evidence for PIE - over time and distance the
same word could indeed have diverged into "chakra" and "wheel"
