Hello everybody!

I will be upgrading my system server to a new mobo, cpu, ram, vga card, 1 TB
m.2 ssd etc.

The idea is to use the existing HDD`s including /home (3 TB WD Red), 1 TB WD
Black, backups on a 3TB WD Red and a 1TB WS Red on th enew MBO install but it
will involve reinstalling My Linux distro Magiea V9 to the M.2 SSD plus 3 
extra
partitions to hold Windows 10/11 providing I can work out where to find the
serial number for the existing install (HDD), plus two new installs for both a
Mageia v9 as well as a Ubuntu 24.04 LTS systems etc.

This kit will hopefully arrive some time Friday and once I have got the 
Windows
SRN I hope to start on this.

I would like to believe this will go according to my plan BUT plans made my 
man
tend to go wrong after the first 30 seconds - a bit like any military plan.

The big issue will be to rebuid the main Linux system (Mageia) and to add all
the extra packages and services etc.  Now I am "assuming" that the core system
will be able to run the BBS / mailer so I can start it fairly soon but ...


It might take a day or so to get it all stable so will try and avoid not to
run the mailer until I am reasonably happy with the processes.

Doing all this there will be NO bbs/mailer service nor mainframe services.


Worse case I will reload the old Mobo etc and start it up if needed but for
obvious reasons hope to avoid doing so as that will take up to 90 minutes to
do.

So it is up when it is up.

Sorry about that but there is no ideal time to do this as the system is
normally in use 24/7.

Needless to say there will be no loss of files and echo`s just might take 15 -
30 minutes to get all the outstanding one`s from the various uplinks.

Some processes rely on the Job Scheduler and will take up to 24 hours to be up
to speed for refreshed services etc.
