Hello Sean!
21 Mar 25 18:12, you wrote to me:

It is not so much that has to consider my age as will be 78 on 23 June.
The reason I took it on was the previous maintainer Ben died and only made
available the Basic source code and not all the scripts etc so full of holes
when trying to take it over. Second issue was it run on Mystic Win / Dos so
that screwed up any ideas of a simple take over.
By putting the entire system under a small mbse system running it and a micro
bbs system with a specific AKA it can be taken over by another who is prepared
to be the back up maintainer. The Cobol source code along with the Cobol
compiler etc, is all installed just in case any changes are needed but it
seems to be fairly bug free but that did not stop me finding one more but that
one has been running for some months but hardly a show stopper - just
reporting that there was warnings issued (expiring) for an echo despite it
being updated etc - Hopefully now fixed - providing there is not other code
that skips the process of clearing such flags some were else that is not often
run :).

I was slightly considering getting one to create some elements for a Boeing
737-800 to make up a flight deck but the one suggested to make the parts (no
simple process anyway in order to cure and other processes after 3D printing
was some 1200 pounds plus any of the elements needed for curing and dying /
inking / laser, etc.
Cheaper just to buy the components as a working system apart from connecting
to
a pc running one or more flight sim products.
Considered all this to save me spending 250 for 2 hours on a real simulator at
Luton Airport.
Why well doing some flying even on a single engine a/c such as a Piper PA28 or
a Cessna 152 etc seems to be charged by flying clubs at well over 200 per
hour.
When I was a flying instructor I could hire a good twin that can cruse at 180
Kts as againt those at only 95.
This can be important if going off some where like France, Spain, Belgium etc
yes Other than a brush up on skills, I did tend to go off a a trip - the last
largish one was to Israel in a PA28-236 which took 20+ hours each way and that
trip was to do to my brother-in-laws wedding at very short notice as I was
able to get away from work and the BA cost was 1200 and money for fuel land &
parking fees was well under that and No I did not really need the flying
hours/
I have well north of 2,000 both VFR and IFR.
So the idea of creating a flight sim came to mind assuming I can find the spae
to put it in a terraced house without installing a new shed in the garden --
too cold in winter let alone of working out how to install power from the
house or garage.

A pi5 or Pi500 ?
Very brave trying to run bbbs on it although under Linux will help.
I have looked at your setting for ARJ but that is exactly the same as set up
here - the command to add a comment (such as the FILEGATE message) seem to be
wrong but in any event I cannot make a secure envelope as against for Rar and
Zip as I have keys for both of those although I did think I had one for arj -
may be memory not working so well these days but cannot find a email etc for
one anyway.
This next load of upgrades (last 10+ years ago methinks) is possibly overdue
although the cost I had to really think about - just as well as I am selling
off a lot of photographic kit as not being used via eBay.
