This procedure does not always work, as I have to skip the "GIVE ROOT
PASSWORD" request at least some times with pwds not being accepted and then
follow the alternative "OR PRESS CTRL+D TO CONTINUE" (which sometimes works,
if not I reboot the harsh way).
