 Yes, two branches of alternate history, one where Schmidt wants to
revive Unknown, possibly with an original anthology as a feeler, and one
where it published into to `50s, `60s, `70s, and `80s as an additional
position for the editor of Astounding/Analog. I feel the two would be
different, although I can`t say how. And I wonder if Schmidt would, in the
foreword to his anthology test, play that he was collecting a year`s best
from his continuing sister magazine of the alternate universe.

 This could be a case similar, in that the anthologist likes what
the editor publishes. Possibly most pronounced in the case of Unknown
and its flavor of Ye Moderne Fantasy. I can see something similar for
Astounding. Or someone, with malice aforethought might put out a Dean Drive and
Hieronymus Machine Anthology.
