Feh. I recall Phil Sheridan`s words... "If I were Satan and owned both
Hell and Texas, I`d live in Hell and rent out Texas."
Little Phil had a way with words. That crack, and his comment on the state of
the Shenadoah Valley after he got through with it, and his opinion of
Comanches, were all notable.
And while he was military governor of Texas and Louisiana immediately after
the ACW, he managed to `lose` lots of weapons over the border in Mexico.
Three times. And, amazingly, the Jauristas `found` each set of `lost`
weapons very quickly. Almost as if someone told them where to look. But a
general officer in the United States Army would never deliberately set out to
undermine the Frence forces then occupying Mexico, now would he?
